Since the start of the season, Robert Lewandowski has not been at his best. After two consecutive injuries, he struggled to regain his usual form. However, in the match against Celta Vigo, Lewandowski rediscovered his decisive abilities, scoring a brilliant hat-trick that proved he still has his finishing touch.
While Barcelona had lacked attacking effectiveness in several matches, particularly in the absence of the Polish striker, Lewandowski closely monitored the situation within the squad. With Ferran Torres, who had started the season well but struggled in recent games, experiencing inconsistent form, Lewandowski began to feel that his chance to reclaim his place in the starting lineup had arrived.
In a private conversation with coach Hansi Flick, Lewandowski requested a return to the starting eleven. He emphasized his readiness to shoulder the burden of upcoming matches and his belief that he could contribute more to the attack than Ferran. This conversation, which was leaked to the German press, came after the disappointing draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League, raising some doubts about the ideal starting lineup at Camp Nou.
Lewandowski quickly rediscovered his excellent understanding with Lamine Yamal and Marcus Rashford in the match against Celta Vigo, which significantly improved Ferran’s performance. With the international break approaching, it became clear that Lewandowski had no intention of returning to the bench.
Upon the resumption of matches, Lewandowski is eager to reclaim his starting position and hopes to be given a full opportunity to contribute to Barcelona’s attacking stability.
