In a move that could significantly reshape Barcelona’s lineup for next season, Spanish media report that the club has begun formulating its strategy regarding a successor to Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, should he decide to leave after his contract with the current administration, led by Joan Laporta, expires.
Interestingly, Barcelona has decided against pursuing an expensive new signing, opting instead to focus on its existing players and find the ideal replacement within the squad.
Ferran Torres: The Spanish Bombshell
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Ferran Torres would be the perfect choice to fill the center-forward position after Lewandowski’s departure, especially given his impressive recent form. The Spanish player, nicknamed “The Shark,” tops the list of Spanish goalscorers in 2025, having netted 27 goals for his club alone, a considerable margin ahead of his closest rivals.
During Lewandowski’s injury absence at the start of the season, Torres proved his ability to effectively lead Barcelona’s attack, and coach Hansi Flick revived his career after he had been on the verge of leaving the team.
The management sees the future in Torres
Ferran Torres has become such a crucial player in Barcelona’s lineup that the management is now considering him a primary option for the center-forward position next season if Lewandowski leaves as a free agent in June. This makes him the ideal replacement at virtually no cost, eliminating the need for expensive external signings.
