Barcelona has its sights set on a rising star in Portuguese football, who has already made a name for himself among the elite after an impressive career at the youth level and his debut with a prestigious club.
According to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Barcelona is closely monitoring young right-back Daniel Bangaque, a Benfica player. The Catalan club believes he possesses the technical and physical abilities to move to a higher level in the near future. The newspaper indicates that Barcelona’s management has already opened communication channels with the player’s representatives to inquire about his situation and express their official interest.
Early Talent and a Complex Contract
Bangaque, who will turn 18 next March, is under contract with Benfica until 2027. With increasing European interest in his services, the Portuguese club moved quickly and began negotiations with the player’s representatives to extend his contract and improve its terms. However, the talks have not yet reached a final agreement, as the player is hesitant and has not yet given the green light for renewal.
The young full-back is no ordinary name, having already won the European Championship and the Under-17 World Cup with Portugal, making him one of the most promising players of his generation in Portuguese football.
Public Praise and a First Impression with the Senior Team
Bangaque joined Benfica in 2018 and steadily progressed through the youth ranks until he earned his first-team debut on December 17, during a Portuguese Cup match against Farense.
Following the match, Portuguese coach José Mourinho made no secret of his admiration for the player, saying:
“I admire him a lot, and I have great confidence in him. He is one of the young players who possess enormous potential to succeed with Benfica and at the highest level.”
Barcelona Is Watching… and Benfica Is Moving
While Barcelona continues to quietly monitor the situation, Benfica understands that time is not on their side if the renewal issue is not resolved soon, especially with other major clubs entering the race. The Catalan club, however, prefers to act early, anticipating that the player could become a highly sought-after signing in the near future. The coming weeks could bring decisive developments in this matter, with European clubs awaiting the player’s next move amidst an early race for one of Portugal’s most promising rising talents.
