Kylian Mbappé was among the players disappointed by Xabi Alonso’s dismissal, noting that the team’s results and overall atmosphere fell far short of expectations. However, the French striker maintained his appreciation for his relationship with the Basque coach, praising the trust Alonso placed in him from day one.
Mbappé delivered his best performances under Alonso, particularly after the initial adaptation period in La Liga, during which he faced more criticism than expected. According to Le Parisien, the Frenchman believes Florentino Pérez did not provide the former coach with sufficient support and patience, leaving him doubtful about the team’s future under Álvaro Arbeloa.
Mbappé has serious doubts about Arbeloa’s ability to handle the intense pressure at the Santiago Bernabéu, preferring a coach with a proven track record of success. At the same time, the French striker is not in favor of Jürgen Klopp’s potential arrival, citing Klopp’s final years at Liverpool as mediocre, his strained relationships with players, his lack of managerial activity since leaving Anfield, and potential language barriers that could hinder communication with Real Madrid’s stars.
Above all, Mbappé clearly favors working under Zinedine Zidane, whom he sees as the ideal solution for the club. Zidane has previously taken charge of Real Madrid in similar circumstances, stepping in mid-season in 2015 and 2019. Mbappé believes Zidane’s experience and leadership would help the club return to the right path, even if his tenure is temporary, lasting only until the end of the current season on June 30.
