Time has proven Carlo Ancelotti right in his assessment of players unable to deliver the required performance, and Dani Ceballos is a prime example. The Sevilla player, who has failed to secure a regular starting place despite repeated attempts, is expected to be one of the first names Real Madrid will offload as part of their squad restructuring.
This season, Ceballos has not received sufficient playing time, either under Xabi Alonso or Álvaro Arbeloa, remaining largely on the bench. Even Florentino Pérez’s decision not to sign a new midfielder has not provided him with more opportunities, leaving his situation at the Santiago Bernabéu precarious.
Despite his efforts and those of his teammates, he has not been able to change his fate and will be outside the club’s plans for next season. Ancelotti himself has repeatedly recommended selling him, but the recommendation has not yet been implemented.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Real Madrid is looking to sell Ceballos for around €10 million, and Real Betis has prepared an official offer for him. Florentino Pérez will be keen to complete the deal before the player’s contract expires in 2027, to avoid him leaving on a free transfer and to ensure financial return from one of the players who has not been able to make a real impact on the team.
