After years away from coaching, French football legend Zinedine Zidane (53) appears to be on the verge of realizing his long-held dream of managing the French national team. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Zidane will take over from current coach Didier Deschamps after the World Cup this summer.
Reports indicate that a verbal agreement has been reached between Zidane and the French Football Federation, with no changes expected before the end of the tournament in the United States. Romano explained on his YouTube channel: “The situation is clear. As far as I know, there is a verbal agreement between Zidane and the French Football Federation. He will be the new national team coach after the World Cup. For now, the entire focus is on the tournament with Deschamps.”
Zinedine Zidane is one of the greatest icons of French football, having played 108 international matches and won the 1998 World Cup with the French national team, becoming a national hero, before concluding his international career at the 2006 World Cup. Since his departure from Real Madrid in June 2021, speculation has been mounting about the possibility of him taking over the national team. It seems that the long-awaited moment is fast approaching, with only a few months remaining before the start of a new chapter in his coaching career.
