The German newspaper Bild revealed that Jürgen Klopp is close to taking over as Real Madrid coach following a recent meeting with club president Florentino Pérez and CEO José Ángel Sánchez in Paris, during which a preliminary agreement was reached between the two parties.
According to the report, Klopp stipulated that he must have full authority over technical planning, including decisions regarding signings and player departures, should he officially take the job.
List of Potential Departures
The German coach identified four players whom he believes have not performed to the required standard this season:
Fran García
Dani Ceballos
Franco Mastantuno
David Alaba
Reports indicate that Mastantuno is the most prominent example, having cost the club around €60 million without managing to adapt to the atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabéu. There is a general consensus that he still needs more experience.
Three Signings to Support the New Project
In contrast, Klopp requested reinforcements in three key positions: a center-back, a specialist midfielder, and a right winger.
Nico Schlotterbeck to bolster the defense
The preferred option for the center-back position is Nico Schlotterbeck, the Borussia Dortmund defender, whose contract expires in 2027 and who has no intention of renewing. This could facilitate a deal worth around €50 million. If the transfer goes through, it would not only strengthen Real Madrid’s defense but also deprive Barcelona of a key target in the transfer market.
Kenan Yıldız, the winger option
For the wing position, the name of Kenan Yıldız, the Juventus star, stands out. Klopp greatly admires him and sees him as a perfect fit for his attacking project.
Vitinha… the midfield dream
In midfield, Klopp has his eye on Vitinha, the Paris Saint-Germain player, whom he considers one of the best in the world in his position. However, convincing the French club to let him go seems like a complex task.
The situation at Real Madrid appears poised for radical changes should Klopp officially take over, with a new technical project that could reshape the team for the coming seasons, involving the departure of prominent players and the pursuit of high-profile signings in the transfer market.
