Barcelona coach Hansi Flick echoed the fans’ sentiments after their shock Copa del Rey exit, emphasizing the team’s strong performance despite the disappointing result. “We can be proud of what we did, but we are disappointed,” Flick said after the match. “We had chances, but they weren’t enough. We have to accept it and remain proud despite the frustration.”
Flick also revealed that the team is dealing with new injuries that could pose a problem during the most crucial period of the season, explaining: “We have two more injuries, Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde, and this is very bad. I’m not happy about these injuries; we’ve lost several players, and we need to discuss this with the medical staff to prevent such situations from happening again.”
The German coach indicated that Balde and Kounde’s absence could extend to four weeks, complicating Barcelona’s plans ahead of their league matches and continued participation in European competition.
Regarding his players’ performance, Flick said: “We gave our all, we left everything on the pitch, and that’s what I want to see from the team. The players were fantastic.”
As for the tactical decisions in the final minutes, Flick said about Pedri: “Pedri put in a great performance and saved us from a counter-attack. He is an excellent player and very important for us, and I am very happy that he was not injured.”
