Real Madrid’s coaching staff has finalized its decision regarding Austrian defender David Alaba, reflecting a clear shift in the team’s strategy ahead of the summer transfer window, amid a move to restructure the back line and reduce the wage bill.
Out of the Picture
Following a decline in his performance in recent matches, coach Álvaro Arbeloa has decided to permanently exclude Alaba from upcoming games, removing him from the squad until further notice.
This decision is not tied to any specific coaching staff, as the player was not part of Xabi Alonso’s previous plans, reflecting a widespread conviction within the club about the need for a fresh start in defense.
A New Order in the Back Line
In the current hierarchy, Antonio Rüdiger, Raúl Asensio, and Dean Hoesen are ahead of Alaba in the pecking order, meaning his chances of playing are limited to exceptional circumstances, such as injuries or suspensions.
The message is clear: the player is not part of the core project, and his role will remain that of a substitute until the end of the season.
Official Sale Price Set
According to media reports, including RMC Sport, Real Madrid are open to selling Alaba for around €15 million as part of a plan to reduce their financial burden and free up funds for new signings during the summer transfer window.
The decision reflects a reset within the club, with a clear priority to strengthen the defense in preparation for next season.
