Barcelona’s management has begun taking early steps to finalize player departures during the summer transfer window, as part of a plan to rebuild the team and reduce the wage bill in preparation for the new season.
According to Spanish press reports, German coach Hansi Flick has made his final decision regarding young midfielder Marc Casadó, after the player fell completely out of his plans recently, despite his strong start with the first team.
Casadó had impressed at the beginning of his time with Barcelona, successfully establishing himself in the starting lineup by taking advantage of the absence of several midfield stars. He earned widespread praise and even received a call-up to the Spanish national team.
However, things changed significantly in the second half of the season, as the player’s performance declined noticeably, causing him to gradually lose his place in Barcelona’s squad and making him one of the players strongly tipped to leave this summer.
According to the newspaper Sport, Barcelona’s management no longer considers Casadó unsellable and would welcome his departure if an offer exceeding €30 million is received, given the club’s desire to generate funds to support new signings.
The report also indicated that sporting director Deco informed the player and his agent directly that his chances of remaining with the team were extremely slim, and that the best option for all parties would be to seek a new experience outside Camp Nou.
In a surprising turn of events, Casadó’s name has been linked to a possible move to the Saudi Pro League, after several clubs expressed interest in signing him during the upcoming transfer window, taking advantage of his exclusion from the coaching staff’s plans at Barcelona.
