Barcelona is reassessing its past decisions after the impressive performances of Moroccan winger Abdessamad Ezzalzouli with Real Betis, which have reopened the debate surrounding his potential departure from the Catalan club.
According to sources within the sporting management, led by Deco, allowing the player to leave earlier is now being viewed as a tactical error, especially given his significant development and outstanding performances in La Liga.
Despite Barcelona’s interest in potentially bringing him back to bolster their left flank, Real Betis’s response has been decisive. The club is determined to retain the player and considers him a fundamental part of its sporting project.
Betis, for its part, has no plans to let go of the Moroccan winger, particularly after his performances and market value have risen considerably compared to his previous transfer fee of less than €7 million. The club no longer needs to sell its key players.
Furthermore, the team’s potential qualification for European competitions gives it added leverage to maintain its core squad, making any future negotiations with Barcelona more difficult.
On the other hand, the Catalan club realizes that bringing the player back won’t be easy, as it would require a significant financial investment with no guarantee of success, especially given the player’s determination to maintain his position at Betis.
Thus, Barcelona finds itself facing a recurring scenario: a talented player leaves early, shines at another club, and then his return becomes a near-impossible task.
