Barcelona continues its activity in the transfer market to strengthen its attacking options, with AC Milan’s Portuguese star Rafael Leão once again at the top of the sporting management’s priorities, led by Joan Laporta.
According to transfer market reports, Barcelona never completely ruled out Leão, but his high price tag had previously been a major obstacle. However, current market conditions have reopened the possibility of renewed negotiations.
Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes is playing a pivotal role in advancing the deal, working on a new financial structure that could reduce the overall cost compared to Milan’s previous demands.
Estimates suggest the deal could be completed with an offer of around €50 million, plus performance-related bonuses, which would make the negotiations more manageable for both clubs.
For its part, Milan is not ruling out considering suitable offers that align with its sporting and financial plans, despite recognizing Leão’s value as one of the team’s key players in recent years.
Barcelona believes that Leão possesses the ideal qualities for its new attacking project, thanks to his speed, ability to break through defenses, and talent for making a difference in big matches, in addition to his potential chemistry with players like Lamine Yamal in the forward line.
Despite the difficulty of the negotiations, Barcelona’s interest in the deal remains strong, with expectations that the club will intensify its efforts if Mendes succeeds in bridging the gap between the two clubs in the coming period.
