“Flick Makes His Decision!” — Veteran Barca Star Left Behind As Impending Exit Nears

Marc-André ter Stegen’s time at Barcelona is rapidly drawing to a close, with the veteran goalkeeper set to miss the club’s upcoming pre-season trip to England.

After spending the second half of last season on loan at Girona, the 34-year-old was recently informed by head coach Hansi Flick that he does not feature in Barcelona’s plans for the 2026/27 campaign.

The decision has prompted his representatives to secure a new club, with Dutch giants Ajax emerging as the primary destination. Newly appointed Ajax manager Míchel views the German international as the perfect candidate to strengthen his option between the posts.

According to a report from Diario Sport, Ter Stegen will not board the team flight to East Midlands Airport for their training camp at St. George’s Park. Instead, he will remain in Catalonia to maintain his fitness independently while finalizing the details of his departure.

Negotiations between the two clubs are now in their final stages, with only routine financial and administrative paperwork remaining before the loan deal is formally announced.
