Barcelona Step Up Squad Overhaul as Deco and Hansi Flick Prepare for New Season

Barcelona are accelerating plans to reshape their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, with sporting director Deco working to finalize player departures and potential arrivals while the team continues its pre-season training camp in England.

As head coach Hansi Flick concentrates on preparing the squad and evaluating his available options, the club’s sporting department is pushing to resolve outstanding transfer business before the competitive campaign begins, despite the summer transfer window remaining open until the end of August.

Deco Working to Finalize Squad

Behind the scenes, Deco is leading negotiations aimed at streamlining the first-team squad while creating room for new signings. Barcelona’s priority is to balance the roster and provide Flick with a more competitive and manageable group before the start of the La Liga season.

Five Players Facing Uncertain Futures

Several players are reportedly facing uncertain futures at the club as Barcelona evaluate offers and consider potential departures.

Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is understood to be among the leading candidates to leave, with discussions over a possible loan move continuing. His exit could prompt Barcelona to enter the market for a new goalkeeper or increase their reliance on younger options already at the club.

Midfielder Marc Casadó has also emerged as a possible departure after seeing his role diminish, attracting interest from several clubs.

At left-back, Alejandro Balde’s future remains open, with Barcelona expected to consider offers that align with the club’s sporting and financial objectives.

Ronald Araújo’s situation is regarded as the most complex. Although the Uruguayan defender remains under a long-term contract and is keen to stay, Barcelona are reportedly prepared to assess any substantial offer received before the transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, winger Roony Bardghji could also depart after the club strengthened its attacking options. A loan move or permanent transfer, potentially including a buy-back clause, is among the scenarios under consideration.

Crucial Weeks Ahead

Barcelona view outgoing transfers as a key step toward completing their squad rebuild. Club officials are aiming to conclude departures before finalizing additional signings, allowing Flick to begin the new campaign with the squad best suited to his tactical plans.
