A 15-Year-Old Gem Wants Out.. Manchester United Weigh Legal Action as Barcelona Lurk

A talent who is not even sixteen yet has suddenly become a genuine crisis at one of the biggest clubs in the world, after the teenager took a shock decision nobody in Manchester saw coming, and the trail now leads straight to Barcelona.

This is no longer a passing transfer rumour. The English club are studying legal routes to protect their interests, while the youngster keeps training far away from England, revealing the scale of the hidden battle being fought over a gem who has yet to celebrate his sixteenth birthday.

The player in question is JJ Gabriel, Manchester United’s young prodigy, who has informed the club that he wants to leave, according to Spanish outlet Sport citing sources in England, making his future one of the most talked-about cases in the European youth market.

According to reports in England, Manchester United are exploring regulatory and legal avenues to protect their interests should the player leave. The Sun reports that the club are even considering legal or regulatory mechanisms to stop third parties from facilitating his exit, although there is no public confirmation yet that any formal legal action has been launched.

United’s problem is that the financial compensation they would receive could be limited if the player continues his career outside England, compared with the value he has built up in the market for young talent.

Gabriel has attracted interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich among those who have followed his development closely, and people close to the player have also held talks about his future.

Notably, the youngster has continued training outside England. He has worked in Barcelona, where he had already spent time during the summer, a move that has fuelled speculation about a possible future in Spanish football, especially with references to the Blaugrana environment appearing in his recent social media posts.

One figure who has become prominent in the process is agent Ali Barat, whose agency Epic Sports has been involved in deals for top-level players. Barat received authorisation to represent minors in the same period that Gabriel’s intention to leave United started to become public.

The situation became more complicated for United after Gabriel could not be included in the Champions League squad against Sabah, as he is still 15. He turns 16 on 6 October.

The club had relied on him during pre-season. Gabriel trained regularly with the first team and played in the friendly against Atletico Madrid in Stockholm on 1 August, and he had also been named Manchester United’s best young player.

His numbers in the youth ranks sent expectations soaring. He scored in his first two appearances for the Under-21 side and then hit a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut.

Now Manchester United must decide how to handle the next steps as the player approaches his sixteenth birthday and interest from Europe’s elite keeps growing. His final destination is still not confirmed, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern all still linked to the situation.
