Marc Bernal Set to Sign Barcelona Deal Until 2031 This Week With €500m Release Clause

The agreement has been in place for weeks, but Barça fans are still waiting for the official photo. Now the date is very close, and the place inside the club has already been decided.

The figures in the new contract show how much the club trusts the player, and make it clear the board has decided to shut the door on any attempt to lure him away in the coming years.

According to Mundo Deportivo, only the signing and the official announcement remain for young midfielder Marc Bernal (19) to extend his contract with Barcelona until 2031, with a release clause of €500 million, after both sides agreed on every detail.

The newspaper explains that the club and the player are looking for the right date for the signing, which could come this week, between Tuesday’s Champions League game against Galatasaray and Saturday’s league match against Real Betis.

The signing will take place in president Joan Laporta’s office, with sporting vice-president Rafa Yuste, sporting director Deco and coordinator Bojan Krkic present, after a quick negotiation thanks to the willingness of both sides.

Barcelona had already adjusted Bernal’s contract until 2029 a few months after his first-team debut and after his serious knee injury, before he returned on 14 September 2025 following 383 days out.

Hansi Flick is Bernal’s biggest backer: he gave him his first-team debut at just 17, and the midfielder played the first three league games of the German coach’s first season.

Bernal played 33 official games and 1,313 minutes last season, and this season he has featured in all nine of the team’s matches for a total of 338 minutes, learning from Rodri, whom the newspaper describes as an invaluable teacher for his development.
