Official decision on the Clasico at Camp Nou.. and a Real Madrid star is at risk of missing it
Days before the first Clasico of the season, an official decision has been made about Barcelona vs Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou, amid a charged atmosphere not seen around the fixture for some time.
At the same time, one of Real Madrid’s biggest stars is at risk of missing the game, which could turn the visitors’ plans upside down.
Spain’s State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport has declared the match between Barcelona and Real Madrid on October 25 at the Spotify Camp Nou “high risk”, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The decision comes because of the tension expected after Real Madrid’s repeated complaints about refereeing in the last two league rounds, starting with the derby against Atletico Madrid, when referee Ortiz Arias did not send off Kang-in Lee for a hard challenge on Fede Valverde, in a game in which Huijsen was sent off for a penalty on Giuliano Simeone early in the second half.
On top of that come the complaints over Vinicius Junior’s red card for grabbing Saliba last Saturday against Villarreal, a sanction that could also rule him out of the Clasico on October 25. Real Madrid are also disputing the yellow card shown to Konate, arguing the Frenchman never touched his opponent.
A special police operation is expected before, during and after the game around the Spotify Camp Nou. The last Clasico ended in a 2-0 win for Barcelona, sealed by a Rashford free kick, which mathematically clinched the league title.
