A Barcelona legend breaks his silence: Lamine Yamal is the best in the world!
An unexpected message reached Lamine Yamal from one of Barcelona’s greatest former stars, after the legend broke his silence and publicly recognised the Spanish talent’s place in world football.
The admission did not come in an interview or a press conference, but in a short social media post. Still, one phrase in it was enough to set fans talking.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Neymar Jr shared on his Instagram stories a comparison between his numbers and Lamine Yamal’s, with a clear message: “Melhor do mundo” – “the best in the world”.
The comparison, published by Score 90 and Sofascore, puts Neymar’s 2017-18 season at PSG, when he scored 25 goals and provided 16 assists in 27 games with an 8.81 rating, against Lamine’s start to 2026-27: eight goals and nine assists in his first ten official games with an 8.61 rating.
In Sofascore’s historical ranking, Neymar sits first and the Barcelona star second, with Lamine’s season only just getting started and his numbers likely to climb.
The message reflects the close bond between the two. Neymar was one of Lamine’s childhood idols, hosted him at his home in Brazil in summer 2025, and Lamine recently attended a celebration at Neymar’s house in Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro.
It comes ahead of Barcelona’s trip to Real Betis today in LaLiga, at the start of a huge week that also includes PSG in the Champions League and Real Madrid in the Clasico.
