The last summer transfer period witnessed Barcelona searching in the Mercato for a player with the qualities of team leader and legend Busquets.
A large number of names were considered as candidates for this position, but in the end Oriol Romeu was the player who was signed, as Barcelona paid 4 million euros to sign him from Girona.
However, there are plans from the administration and the athletic director to strengthen this center. It is almost certain that this strengthening will not happen this winter, but it will certainly happen next summer.
Sport Now reports that Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez remains an admirer of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zobimendi and wants the club to make every attempt to sign him next summer.
Zobimendi was one of the most important targets to succeed Busquets in Barcelona last summer, but the renewal of his contract with Real Sociedad and the release clause of 60 million euros made him move away from Barcelona’s dreams.
But Xavi still has his eyes on Zobimendi and sees him as a key part of his future squad, and as such the club will be making an effort to try and sign the Spain international in 2024.
