Spanish press reports revealed the latest developments in negotiations between Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, and the genius coach, to lead the Catalan team, succeeding coach Xavi Hernandez, who officially announced his departure at the end of the current season.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, Flick’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has a good relationship with the president of the Catalan club, Juan Carlos Laporta, and that the German coach’s agent has contributed to successful deals for Barca recently.
Reports also indicate that Zahavi attended the match, to discuss renewing the contract of player Dani Rodriguez, whose contract expires next June.
The newspaper added that the German coach is obsessed with the idea of training Barcelona, and he also agreed to reduce his salary in order to train the Catalan giant, and Laporta is in the process of reaching an agreement with him before the end of the season and announcing him as Barcelona’s official coach starting next season.
Flick also rejected an offer from Bayern Munich to return and train the Bavarian team, preferring to wait to join the Catalan team.
