Barcelona is seeking to sign a number of senior and experienced players for free at the end of the current season.
Barcelona is adopting this policy due to its financial inability to keep up with its rival Real Madrid and the Premier League clubs, so it resorts to this solution by contracting with players whose contracts are expiring.
In light of this, press reports stated that Barcelona wants to obtain the services of Frenchman Adrien Rabiot, Juventus star, in the upcoming summer transfer period.
The 28-year-old player’s contract with Juventus expires in June 2024, and therefore he has the right to sign for any team currently, and if he joins the Catalan team, it will be a free deal.
Barcelona is currently looking for free deals due to the club’s financial crisis, as it included many players after the end of their contracts with their clubs, most notably Ilkay Gundogan after the end of his contract with Manchester City, Inigo Martinez from Real Sociedad and Andres Christensen from Chelsea.
The Catalan newspaper “Sport” said that Barcelona will begin searching for players whose contracts expire at the end of the current season.
The newspaper added that Barcelona aims to sign Frenchman Adrien Rabiot, the Juventus midfielder, whose contract with his club expires at the end of the current season.
Rabiot was already close to wearing the Blaugrana shirt in the summer of 2019, before moving to Juventus, and after 5 years, he is close to wearing the Barca shirt in a free transfer deal.
The newspaper indicated that Barcelona is considering offering the player a two-year contract, in addition to an optional season.
