FC Barcelona faces one final hurdle before securing the signature of a key player from Manchester City this summer.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, the two clubs have reached the final stage of negotiations over the Portuguese Joao Cancelo deal, which will most likely be decided this week.
The newspaper indicated that the two clubs agreed on the loan formula, while the value of the purchase item remains a matter of dispute between the two parties.
The newspaper stated that Barcelona agreed to bear Cancelo’s salary after the player agreed to reduce it, but Barca offered that the purchase item be only 25 million euros.
City rejected Barcelona’s offer, and asked to raise it to 45 million euros, because they believe that the player can easily increase his value after playing a season in the Barca shirt.
The Spanish newspaper stated that this part of the negotiations will not constitute a major obstacle to resolving the deal, and an agreement is expected to be reached within a few days.
And the newspaper concluded: “There is a meeting today between Barcelona and Jorge Mendes, Cancelo’s agent, and everything related to the deal may be resolved.”
