Spanish media revealed the emergence of a list of final candidates to succeed Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez in his position after the end of the current season, in light of many reports that mentioned some unexpected names.
According to the Spanish journalist Valls on his famous television program “Unzi”, the Barcelona administration, led by Joan Laporta, has settled on the final list to choose from to succeed Xavi as coach of the Catalan club next season.
Valls confirmed that Arsenal’s Spanish coach, Mikel Arteta, tops the list and is Joan Laporta’s favorite coach, as he has achieved great results with Arsenal over the last two seasons.
Valls explained that Julian Nagelsmann, the current coach of the German national team, comes in second place, and he led Bayern Munich in the last two years and achieved great results locally and continentally, as he will lead the German machines in the upcoming European Nations Cup, Euro 2024.
Valls said that German Hansi Flick, former coach of the German national team and former Bayern Munich, occupies third place compared to Joan Laporta, but the latter remains the available option as he is not currently bound to any contract with any club.
Valls pointed out that Hansi Flick has been away from work since his departure for the German national team, especially with the bad experience he had with Germany in terms of results and performance, which ended with his departure in September of last year.
It is noteworthy that Xavi had announced to the media his departure from the position of coach of Barcelona after the end of the current season in light of the bad results that Barcelona is currently achieving.
Xavi Hernandez has been the coach of Barcelona for two seasons after he took over from the Dutchman Ronald Koeman, who also lived a difficult period with the Catalan club.
