Press reports revealed that one of the players of the first team of the Spanish club Barcelona is close to leaving the ranks of the Catalan team during the coming period.
Barcelona has been suffering economically over the past few years, and the Catalan club will have to make more than one important sale next summer, in order to balance its financial accounts.
According to the Spanish “Sport” magazine, Barcelona’s economic crisis will push the club’s management to consider selling Spanish international Alejandro Balde, the Catalan club’s left-back.
The report indicated that Chelsea made an offer worth 50 million euros ($54 million) in order to obtain Balde’s services. The magazine also explained that club president Joan Laporta, despite initially refusing to sell the Spanish full-back, is now seriously considering selling him.
The newspaper added that Laporta believes that the player, before the injury, did not perform at a great level this season, which reinforced Barcelona’s idea of selling the player and benefiting from him financially to sign new deals.
