Journalist Christopher Michel has previously confirmed that the Spanish Xabi Alonso, coach of Bayer Leverkusen, is the closest to succeeding Carlo, and that he also remains open to the Merengue.
The newspaper explained that Xavi officially decided a few days ago to continue with Leverkusen until the end of his contract in the summer of 2026, which is the same time when Ancelotti’s contracts will expire.
