Press reports revealed the names of the candidates nominated to coach the Spanish club Barcelona during the coming period, after the departure of Xavi Hernandez.
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez announced his departure from coaching the Catalan team at the end of the current season due to the deterioration in the Catalan team’s results this season.
According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona president Joan Laporta prefers to sign coach Rafael Marquez, the Mexican coach of the club’s reserve team, as technical director of the first team, in the event of Xavi Hernandez’s departure.
The reasons why Laporta is considering the option of contracting with Marquez are that the successful experiences of the Barcelona president with coaches who do not have experience, similar to what happened with Pep Guardiola and Frank Rijkaard, make him want to repeat the matter again.
The second reason is Marquez’s good relationship with Jorge Mendes and Joan Laporta. He also has Barcelona genes and understands what it means to coach the Catalan club.
Another reason revealed by the Catalan newspaper relates to the coach’s courage in dealing with young players, in addition to achieving good results with the reserve team. He also has a good personality due to which he built good relationships with the players.
