Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has settled on the two centre-backs who will participate against Manchester City in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”, Ancelotti has chosen Nacho to start alongside Rudiger at the heart of Real Madrid’s defense against Manchester City.
Real Madrid will host Manchester City at Etihad Stadium next Wednesday, to decide the qualification ticket for the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium ended with Real Madrid and Manchester City tied with three goals for each other.
It is noteworthy that in the first leg, Ancelotti relied on the duo of Rudiger and Chouamini at the heart of Real Madrid’s defence.
Chouamini will miss the second leg due to the accumulation of yellow cards, and according to Ancelotti’s choice, Nacho will be his replacement next to Rudiger in the defense position.
Many social media platforms circulated news about the reason for Diaz being replaced in the second half, with Vinicius replacing him, which was missing the opportunity for an achieved goal.
Ancelotti was keen to speak with the Moroccan winger after he left the field, saying: “I did not change you because of the opportunity you wasted… This is not a punishment.”
