Xavi Hernandez announced the return of the loaned Barcelona player next season during the introductory press conference to face Girona in La Liga.
The match represents a bottleneck for both teams, as victory means that second place will be largely settled, which is the position that will qualify for the Spanish Super Cup next season.
During the press conference, Xavi was asked about Eric Garcia, the Barcelona player loaned to Girona, and the chances of him returning to the Catalan club and the reason for his departure.
Xavi responded, in statements reported by Mundo Deportivo newspaper: “He left because of the Financial Fair Play crisis. I didn’t want him to leave. Circumstances are what prompted us to do so, and we decided to return.”
Last summer, a double deal took place between the two clubs, as Barcelona signed Oriol Romeu for 3.4 million euros, and Girona obtained Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre on loan without an option to buy.
According to information received from the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, Xavi also requested the renewal of the team’s star player, Sergi Roberto, making Barcelona fans wonder whether the return of Eric Garcia and the renewal of Sergi Roberto will guarantee Barcelona’s success in winning titles next season!!
