Spanish press reports highlighted that one of Barcelona’s prominent stars is close to playing in the English Premier League next season.
According to information received from the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Sergi Roberto has gradually withdrawn from the idea of waiting for Barcelona in order to obtain a new offer.
The Spanish newspaper confirmed that Roberto is receiving interest from clubs in the Spanish League, such as Girona, Valencia, and Seville, which have inquired about him without making concrete offers, in addition to the Italian Inter Milan.
The Spanish newspaper indicated that Roberto dreams of playing in the English Premier League, and his agent has already received calls from English clubs, and the first negotiations are going positively.
The Spanish newspaper explained that Roberto has not made any final decision yet, but he is not expected to join training under the leadership of Barcelona’s new coach, Hansi Flick, before his contract renewal is decided.
It is noteworthy that Sergio Roberto’s contract with Barcelona expires on June 30, and Roberto has not reached an agreement with Barcelona regarding the renewal of the contract yet.
Press reports claimed that the Barcelona administration asked Roberto to wait for the economic crisis to be resolved next August and then sign a new contract with him.
