Officials of the Spanish club Barcelona, headed by Joan Laporta, are planning to sign the star of the first football team of Manchester City during the current summer transfer period of 2024, to strengthen the ranks of the Catalan team.
Barcelona is seeking to return again to the podium after a difficult and disappointing season in which Barcelona left empty-handed without any title.
The Spanish newspaper “Sport” revealed that the Barcelona management wants to sign Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, the Manchester City player, during the current summer transfer period of 2024.
The newspaper added that Barcelona is on the cusp of winning major financial support amounting to 150 million euros each season, through a sponsorship contract with Nike, a support that may enhance the Catalan club’s ability to sign Erling Haaland.
The newspaper added that Barcelona is interested in contracting with the Norwegian star in order to respond to its competitor, Real Madrid, which signed the French player Kylian Mbappe.
The Norwegian striker played 98 matches across various competitions with the English team, during which he scored 90 goals and provided 15 assists.
The Spanish club Barcelona announced, in an official statement, that it had signed a contract with coach Hansi Flick to coach the team, as it reached an agreement for the German to become the team’s coach until June 30, 2026.
