Press reports revealed today that Barcelona received a shock from Manchester City regarding the deal to sign Joao Cancelo, the first-team football player for City.
Barca is seeking to keep Joao Cancelo in the ranks of the club’s first football team in order to have greater stability within the team’s ranks and compete well in the various tournaments in which the Catalan club’s first football team will participate in the next season.
Joao Cancelo moved to the first team of the Catalan club last season for only one season, and this season ended, and so far the player’s loan or contract has not been renewed permanently.
According to the Spanish newspaper Relivo, Manchester City told Barcelona not to renew the loan of Joao Cancelo, the City player, and that he will not go out on loan again to any club.
The report added: City wants the player to leave permanently if Barcelona or any club wants to include him, by paying a fee ranging between 20 to 30 million for the player’s departure from the ranks of the first football team at Manchester City.
