Laporta realizes that contracting with Hansi Flick, despite the German coach’s great experience, is not enough, as the Catalan team needs a lot of reinforcements in different positions.
In a related context, Mark Cucurella, the former Barcelona player, admitted that he is trying to convince Neco Williams, the Athletic Bilbao player, to join Chelsea.
Williams’ name appears on Barcelona’s goals list in the summer Mercato, and Barcelona and Laporta’s task will not be easy in this file, with many clubs wanting to sign the player and obtain his signature.
Cucurella currently plays for Chelsea, but he played for a long time in Barcelona’s youth sector before leaving.
Cucurella said, in statements reported by Football Spain: “Williams would be a great deal for Barcelona, but it all depends on what he wants.”
He continued: “I am talking to Williams about signing with Chelsea. In the end, it depends on him. He is a very young man and has a lot of experience, and I think he will be a great player.”
In response to these statements, “Sport” newspaper indicated that Laporta and Flick are very concerned about Neco Williams changing his desire and leaving for Chelsea, but the talented star, Lamine Yamal, and a close friend of Williams, reassured Laporta and Flick that the player’s first and only desire is to play with Barcelona.
