The serious absence of the German midfielder, who has decided to retire from playing, causes a big problem for Real Madrid, who is already looking for a replacement for the legendary Kroos.
Real Madrid has been planning for the next season for months, and is fully aware of the huge void that Toni Kroos will leave in the club. The German midfielder bid farewell to Real Madrid and retired from playing after Spain beat Germany (2-1) in the quarter-finals of the European Championship.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, although they at Real Madrid consider that Kroos’s absence cannot be compensated for, they have been working at the club for weeks to strengthen the midfield that will be at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti for next season.
The newspaper continued: One of the names on Madrid’s agenda is Bruno Guimarães, as the Newcastle midfielder is 26 years old and has already played two seasons in the English Premier League, and has proven his high quality and efficiency.
Guimarães is well known to Johnny Calafat, a scout who is part of Real Madrid’s sporting organization and Calafat himself is said to already be reaching out for the services of the player, who Manchester City also desperately want.
Guimarães is a regular for the Brazilian national team, having made 25 international appearances since making his debut on November 18, 2020. He grew up in his country, arrived in England for around €40 million and has a contract until 2028.
The British press estimates the possibility of the player’s transfer at approximately 120 million euros, which will be somewhat of a penalty clause for terminating his contract with Newcastle, but Real Madrid will not be prepared to pay this amount at the present time.
