Press reports revealed the latest developments regarding the future of Spanish star Neco Williams, who is awaiting news of the official announcement of his transfer to Barcelona during the current summer Mercato.
Recently, the management of the Catalan team, headed by Joan Laporta, has been working to finalize the deal for the Spanish national team star and include him in its ranks before the start of the new football season “2024-2025”.
The 21-year-old Spanish striker has a contract with his current team, Athletic Bilbao, that lasts until June 2027, with a release clause in his contract worth 60 million euros.
According to what the Catalan newspaper “Sport” reported, there is a condition on the part of the Spanish star in order to agree to his departure to Barcelona, as he wants to obtain all the necessary guarantees for his registration in Barca’s contracts for the “2024-2025” season, in order to guarantee participation legally without any obstacles.
The newspaper added that the Spanish player wants to ensure a smooth transfer to Barcelona without any problems hindering his participation due to the rules of financial fair play, which Barcelona finds very difficult to comply with.
If the matter succeeds, it will now remain to finalize the agreement with the Athletic Bilbao administration, with Barca paying the release clause, after which it will wait for the official announcement of the inclusion of the young striker in its ranks.
