Press reports revealed the imminent departure of the Barcelona star along with Gundogan during the last days of the current summer transfer period.
Barcelona announced the departure of German player Ilkay Gundogan, the team’s midfielder, who joined in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer from Manchester City, and the player returned to his former club for free after waiving the rest of his contract.
Barcelona decided to let Gundogan leave to free up space on the salary scale, especially since he is among the highest paid players in the team, in addition to Dani Olmo not being registered yet due to financial fair play rules, and his departure will facilitate the Spaniard’s registration process.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Danish defender Andreas Christensen may leave Barcelona along with Gundogan in the summer of 2024.
The newspaper indicated that Christensen has interest from several clubs, one of which is Newcastle, and the player is open to leaving if a satisfactory offer arrives.
The newspaper concluded that Hans Flick is angry with Laporta’s desire for Christensen to leave and believes that the player will have a major role in the team, but the financial crisis and the failure to register Dani Olmo so far are pushing Laporta to this difficult decision.
The fans of the Saudi Federation had launched a hashtag demanding that their club sign Christensen, and the player enjoys great appreciation and interest from Saudi clubs.
