Barcelona have set a date to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, according to Spanish press reports.
The Catalan club had set the 22-year-old as their main target in the 2024 summer transfer window, but the Basque star has decided to stay with his club for at least another year.
According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona is planning to sign Nico Williams in the summer of 2025.
The Spanish newspaper continued that relations between the Catalan club and the Spanish winger are still healthy.
The newspaper added that Barca initially intended to move to sign the Basque winger next year, but his amazing performance in the Euro 2024 tournament with the Spanish national team convinced Joan Laporta, the president of the Blaugrana, to try to sign the player this summer.
The Spanish star has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, with his contract with the Basque club set to expire in the summer of 2027.
It is worth noting that the Spanish winger had participated in 37 matches with the Basque team, in all competitions, during the 2023-24 season, scoring 8 goals and making 19 others.
