Uruguayan Luis Suarez, the star of the American Inter Miami, intervened to prevent the departure of one of Barcelona’s players during the summer transfer market.
It is noteworthy that Suarez played with Barcelona from 2015 until 2020 before moving to Atletico Madrid and was able to write his name in gold letters in the history of the Catalan club.
The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported that Suarez warned Barcelona officials of the possibility of his compatriot Ronald Araujo, the team’s defender, leaving, after receiving an offer from Bayern Munich to join him.
The Spanish newspaper reported that Suarez informed Barcelona president Joan Laporta that Araujo had seriously considered Bayern Munich’s offer, not only for the money, but also because of his desire to compete for European titles.
The same source indicated that Barcelona acted immediately after Suarez’s statement, and informed the player’s agents of their desire to renew, but they did not receive any response.
Laporta believed that Araujo’s agents did not inform him of the club’s full offer, so he personally intervened to explain to the player all the details of the new contract.
The newspaper concluded that Laporta appreciates what Suarez did, although the relationship with the Barcelona president was not good, but he preferred the interests of Barca and contacted the officials to inform them of saving the situation.
