Nike insists that Barcelona must quickly close a deal to sign a huge global star during the upcoming summer.
However, reaching this deal requires Barcelona to first carry out some sales to raise the necessary funds, with the focus mainly on players such as Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong, who are considered the main candidates for departure.
So far, the Catalan club has only managed to conclude two deals this summer, as they signed Pau Victor and Dani Olmo, while Nico Williams decided to stay at Athletic Bilbao, and Barcelona hopes that their financial situation will improve by 2025 to be able to complete more deals.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, despite Joan Laporta and Deco trying to sign the Spanish international again, this goal is no longer at the top of the club’s priorities, and there are noticeable doubts at Camp Nou about the possibility of achieving this deal.
The newspaper added, on the other hand, that Nike is seeking a player with a greater global reputation, and is placing Erling Haaland as a very exciting option, especially in light of doubts about his continuation at Manchester City.
With Pep Guardiola’s contract set to expire on June 30, Haaland may consider leaving Manchester City for a new challenge. Haaland has made no secret of his interest in moving to the Spanish League, as he avoids moving to Real Madrid for lack of desire to compete with Kylian Mbappe or Vinicius Junior, which may limit his chances of shining on his own.
In Barcelona, Haaland may be the required “number 9” player, especially in light of the current situation of 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski, who receives a large salary.
Despite Lewandowski’s outstanding performance and Hans Flick’s confidence in him, Barcelona may choose not to extend his contract, which would make room in the attack for Haaland, who Laporta sees as an ideal option that may contribute to achieving successes similar to those achieved by Leo Messi.
Despite the huge challenges in attracting Haaland from Manchester City, Nike has promised to support Laporta as much as possible to achieve this ambitious deal.
