The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo revealed the options available to the German Hans Flick, the coach of Barcelona, to compensate for the absence of the Spaniard Dani Olmo from the team in the upcoming matches, starting with the match against Monaco in the Champions League.
Barcelona will lose Olmo’s services in the coming period for a period of up to a month and a week after he received a muscle injury during the Barcelona and Girona match, on Sunday evening, in the Spanish League.
The newspaper explained that Flick may tend to rely on one of the following players in place of Olmo in the coming period, namely: Raphinha, Fermin Lopez, Pablo Torre, Ansu Fati, Pau Victor, and the young duo Gilly Fernandez and Kim Junyent.
Flick may go for the idea of relying on Eric Garcia, which will necessarily mean the advancement of the midfielder, Pedri, in Olmo’s position.
The newspaper added that Flick prefers to give the opportunity to the injured Ansu Fati to evaluate the player before the January transfers, and Flick hopes that the Spanish player will seize the opportunity and take advantage of it in the best possible way.
Olmo will miss six matches for Barcelona for sure, against: Monaco, Villarreal, Getafe, Osasuna, Young Boys of Switzerland, Deportivo Alaves, with doubts about his presence against Sevilla and Bayern Munich of Germany.
Olmo scored a goal to help Barça win against Girona 4-1 in Montilivi, so that Flick’s team continues to lead the league table with a full score, with 15 points.
