After Dani Carvajal’s injury, Real Madrid has a range of options, both at right-back and in the center of defense.

The details of Carvajal’s injury are gradually becoming clear. According to rumors circulating in the media, Real Madrid is looking to make several signings during the summer transfer window and could execute some of these operations in the winter window.
If this statement is confirmed, it would be a big surprise after six years of inactivity in the winter market for Real Madrid.

In any case, the focus of the executives led by Florentino Pérez is on the summer window of 2025, when the arrival of an experienced central defender as a free agent is expected to be officially announced.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper Defensa Central, the name of Jonathan Tah has gained importance in the last hours as an option to strengthen Madrid’s central defense after failing to sign Lenny Yoro.

So far, the solutions that Real Madrid has tried have yielded unsatisfactory results, especially due to injuries to players such as Juan Martínez and David Alaba.
Although the Austrian is close to returning, Aurélien Tchouaméni will continue to serve as an emergency center-back to give Éder Militão and Antonio Rüdiger a break.

The addition of Jonathan Tah to the Santiago Bernabéu dressing room would be similar to previous signings of Rüdiger and Alaba: an experienced defender under 30 who comes to the club on a free transfer, and a renewal with Bayer Leverkusen does not seem to be an option, which would boost his chances of joining Real Madrid according to the latest speculation.

At the moment, Real Madrid does not face much competition for the Bayer Leverkusen defender, although Barcelona remains interested in signing him for a second season in a row, given his status as a free agent in the summer of 2025.
However, Real Madrid could make a higher offer than Barcelona, depending on whether the German defender wants to join the Bernabéu.

The newspaper concluded that the Real Madrid president refused to sign Ramos, preferring to go for Jonathan Tah, who is younger than Ramos and has a lower salary, which saddened the Real Madrid legend who dreamed of returning to the club for a few months.
Ramos will have to continue looking for a team that will give him opportunities and trust in his abilities despite being 38 years old.
