According to information from the newspaper El Nacional, Barcelona intends to study the possibility of signing a new star goalkeeper next summer, especially with doubts about the ability of the 32-year-old German goalkeeper to regain his level after his serious injury.
In this context, Jorge Mendes emerged, suggesting the name of Diogo Costa, the Porto goalkeeper, who is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Costa has exceptional abilities, has proven himself at a high level, and also participated with the Portuguese national team in the last European Championship.
Costa is distinguished by his quick reactions, agility, and ability to stop penalty kicks, but his transfer is not expected to be easy, as his price is estimated at around 40 million euros.
However, there is no doubt that he would be the ideal replacement for Ter Stegen, who may face competition for his position upon his return.
It is worth noting that Mendes had offered Diogo Costa to Barcelona in the summer of 2022 for 12 million euros, but Laporta and Mateu Alemany rejected the proposal at that time.
