One of the most prominent players in European football has dared to reject the offer from Paris Saint-Germain, recently presented by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, preferring to join Barcelona.

The competition between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona over deals in recent years shows no signs of ending, and this time, the rivalry will be for a world-class player in order to secure his services for free.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Jonathan David, the striker of Lille, is receiving repeated calls to leave his club at the end of the season, taking advantage of the expiration of his contract on June 30.

He has made it clear that he will not renew his contract, which means he will become a free agent and can sign with any team without a transfer fee.
His impressive performances in recent months have earned him recognition as one of the best strikers currently, and the possibility of signing him without a transfer fee has attracted interest from top European clubs.

In Paris, David is considered a major target and has received support from Luis Enrique, who sees the need to sign a new striker.
The contributions of Gonzalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani are not limited to replacing Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid, which has prompted the board to consider signing the Canadian international, who has scored eight goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season. However, David has surprisingly stated that he would prefer another option.

David feels more attracted to joining Barcelona, where he is on the list of targets set by Joan Laporta and Deco, especially with 2025 in mind, as Robert Lewandowski’s future is unclear. This uncertainty could prompt the club to consider signing a new striker, with David as a potential candidate.

Reports from Barcelona scouts suggest that David is fully prepared to take on the responsibility of being the main striker at Camp Nou. He would prefer to start a new experience in La Liga rather than continue in Ligue 1, where he joined Lille in 2020. Therefore, Laporta and Deco appear to be in a stronger position in this battle to sign the player.
