Real Madrid Injury Update Reveals Return Timelines for Valverde, Militao, Mendy and Rodrygo
Real Madrid have entered the international break facing a situation that was not necessarily expected at the start of the season. Beyond the team’s position in La Liga, another issue has begun to demand attention, and the latest developments involve more than just one player.
The surprise is that the current absentee list contains four names, but their expected recovery periods are very different. While one recent injury could have a relatively short impact, other absences may last for several months, leaving Real Madrid waiting for key players to return before competitive action resumes.
Federico Valverde is the latest addition to the injury list after suffering a grade-three sprain to his left ankle during the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid confirmed following medical tests that the midfielder sustained significant trauma to the ankle, while current estimates suggest he could potentially return for the home match against Villarreal on October 10.

Ferland Mendy, meanwhile, is still recovering from a tendon rupture suffered toward the end of last season. According to the latest update, the French full-back is expected to miss most of the season, although a return in April remains possible depending on his recovery.

Rodrygo also remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury suffered in March. The winger is dealing with a long-term absence and remains outside Real Madrid’s current plans while he completes his rehabilitation.

In defense, Eder Militao is recovering from a biceps femoris tendon tear. The current expectation is that the Brazilian defender could return at some point before November, or at the latest in early November.

Real Madrid therefore currently have four players on their injury list: Valverde, Mendy, Rodrygo and Militao, with significant differences in their expected recovery timelines. Valverde is the latest player to join the list, while Militao appears to be closer to a return, with Mendy and Rodrygo facing considerably longer recovery periods.
