Hansi Flick has drawn up a long list of Barcelona players he wants to see leave the club as soon as possible, with an eye on the January transfer window.
The German coach believes that several players are unable to provide the required contribution to the team and have failed to show a convincing level of performance in recent times.
These players could free up space in the dressing room for new arrivals, and their departure would help reduce the wage bill and generate much-needed income for the club.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, Flick has already informed Joan Laporta and Deco of his desire to see a number of players leave, including Hector Fort and Ansu Fati.
The former, who delivered a poor performance against Las Palmas, seems destined to leave the team, as he is not expected to get any playing minutes in the near future.
As for Ansu Fati, the Spanish forward is still struggling to overcome recurring injuries that have affected his form. He has not made a tangible contribution to the team, and his future is uncertain, as he is expected to be one of the first players to leave in the next transfer window.
Gerard Martin is also one of the players the club is looking to part ways with as soon as possible. The sporting management is also looking to bring in a new left-back who can compete with Alejandro Balde for the position.
The list continues with Eric García, who was close to leaving Barcelona last summer but stayed due to the injury crisis that affected the defense. However, after his mistake against Leganés, and with Ronald Araujo recovering and Andreas Christensen close to returning, it has become difficult for him to secure playing time under Flick. The club hopes to offload him and gain financial compensation that may exceed €10 million.
Among the players also expected to leave is Pablo Torre. Although he has shown some promising glimpses by scoring three goals, Flick has not been convinced by his level of play and is not keen to keep him in the team.
The purge that Flick is seeking to implement at Barcelona appears deep and comprehensive. The changes are expected to continue next summer, with players like Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres likely to leave.
Barcelona’s management hopes these changes will proceed smoothly, though finding buyers for some players could prove challenging, especially in the case of Ansu Fati, for whom it will be difficult to find a club willing to agree to terms.
