Pérez moves behind the scenes… a prominent Premier League name enters the Real Madrid coaching circle.

Florentino Pérez continues his intensive efforts to finalize the appointment of Real Madrid’s new manager for next season, amid a conviction within the club that a change is necessary to get the team back on track after a turbulent season.

The list of potential candidates includes several prominent names, most notably Jürgen Klopp, one of Europe’s leading coaches, along with Enzo Maresca, who is currently without a club after leaving Chelsea. Reports suggest there may have been previous contact between Maresca and Real Madrid’s management.

However, the biggest surprise came from England, where British media outlets began circulating Mikel Arteta’s name as a possible Real Madrid option, citing his impressive success with Arsenal this season.

British reports stated that “links with Real Madrid seem inevitable, but remain within the realm of speculation,” indicating the growing interest in the Spanish coach, who has led Arsenal to the top of the Premier League, six points ahead of Manchester City, as well as topping their Champions League group.

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal are enjoying one of their best periods in years, competing strongly in all competitions and striving to end a long trophy drought. They haven’t won the league title since 2004 and are still searching for their first European trophy.

Arteta has been linked with Real Madrid for some time, especially given the uncertainty surrounding his future. His contract with Arsenal expires in June 2027, and there has been no clear progress in renewal negotiations so far.

During his seven seasons at the Emirates Stadium, the Basque coach has successfully restored stability to the club, building a young and cohesive team that finished as runners-up in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, eliminating Real Madrid before being knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain.

Interest in Arteta isn’t limited to Real Madrid; major clubs like Manchester City and Barcelona are also closely monitoring him, drawn by his Catalan background and his close relationship with Pep Guardiola, who has clearly influenced his coaching philosophy.

However, recent moves within Arsenal could prove decisive for the manager’s future. The club has renewed the contracts of William Saliba and Bukayo Saka, two key players in the team’s project, with a prevailing belief within the club that they cannot continue without Arteta.

While Arteta remains committed to the project and aims to emulate Arsène Wenger, who led Arsenal for over two decades, his future remains uncertain, awaiting a decision that could ignite the European coaching market.
