The star of the Spanish club Barcelona’s first football team confirmed that things did not go as desired with the Catalan team during the past season.
The Catalan team did not achieve any title last season, as it failed to maintain the Spanish League title, lost the Spanish King’s Cup and the Super Cup, and exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals.
Romeo said in statements reported by the Spanish newspaper “Marca”: “Barcelona came and put their offer on the table and told me that I would be very important…but everything changed one way or another.”
He added: “When I was on the bench, I tried to put myself in the appropriate state of mind when Xavi asked me to participate. When I am on the field, my adrenaline rises, and if I lose a match, I cannot sleep.”
Romeo admitted: “As for the physical aspect, it is not what I wanted. There was a mental problem too.”
Regarding the decision of German coach Hansi Flick, who requested the player’s departure from Barcelona, he replied: “Every coach, of course, has a style and requirements for the players he trains, but I wish I had the opportunity to prove to him my abilities, but the matter is over and he accepts the decision of my departure from Barcelona despite its difficulty.”
