Spanish press reports revealed that the Barcelona first-team football player is on his way to moving to Arsenal in the current summer Mercato.
Barcelona is trying to open the door for some of its players to leave in order to reduce the salary bill in light of the devastating financial crisis that the Catalan team has been going through recently.
According to information received from the Spanish newspaper Sport, Mikel Arteta is communicating with Barcelona star Sergi Roberto in order to include him in Arsenal, as he is one of the experienced elements who can provide an addition to the London team.
The newspaper added that Hansi Flick expelled the Spanish player in an insulting manner. When he was asked about Sergi Roberto’s future with Barcelona, he replied: “He is not a Barcelona player anymore.”
The newspaper added that the player is dissatisfied with the way Barcelona’s management dealt with him, especially since he is the team’s captain, and no negotiations were opened with him in order to renew his contract or take care of bidding him a proper farewell, which made the player think about having a new experience in the Premier League, and his closest destination now is Arsenal.
