The board of directors of Real Madrid, led by Florentino Perez, has identified a suitable alternative to Croatian midfielder Luka Modric.
Luka had previously received a tempting offer during the last summer transfer window from Saudi club Al-Ahly, but the Croatian refused to even discuss it.
In that context, Real Madrid decided last season to extend Luka’s contract with the team until the end of June 2024.
The royal team has developed a new plan in case Modric’s contract is not renewed again this year, or if the player decides to move to another club
According to the Spanish newspaper “AS,” Real Madrid is targeting the signing of German star Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in the next summer transfer window.
The newspaper also reported that Real Madrid is working discreetly and strategically on this matter, especially as they see Wirtz as an ideal replacement for Modric, who is likely in his final season
The report explained that Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also interested in the player, whose market value is €130 million, and he is unlikely to leave for less than €150 million.
The newspaper concluded that the legendary Luka Modric is a strong advocate for signing the German player, whom he considers a valuable addition to the Madrid team in the future.
