The statement received a strong reaction from the audience, particularly given Ibrahimovic’s history with Barcelona and his status as one of the most recognisable figures in world football.
Although the comment came at a time when the Ballon d’Or debate is intensifying, Ibrahimovic’s endorsement does not represent an official vote in the award process. It is nevertheless a notable show of support for Barcelona’s young star from one of football’s most prominent former players.
