Hansi Flick is completely satisfied with the performance of all Barcelona players, who have performed well when called upon. However, it appears that a number of players are struggling to maintain consistency, and this becomes more evident as we enter the crucial stage of the season, when the fate of titles will be decided.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper ‘‘El Nacional‘‘, among those players who realize their role will be limited in the future is Eric García.
Although Eric García has played more than expected, which led him to reject the idea of leaving in January, he now faces a difficult reality. He has once again become the last option in defensive formations, facing strong competition from Ronald Araujo, Iñigo Martínez, and Pau Coparsi, who are clearly superior to him in the German coach’s preferences.
These players will be the most likely to feature in matches, meaning Eric will have to be content with participating only when absolutely necessary. At Camp Nou, his performance and professionalism remain outstanding, even in the most difficult moments when he is not in the starting lineup. However, he is not at the same level as his defensive colleagues.
Flick only uses him in decisive matches to provide relief to key players in the final minutes. Eric will have to adapt to this role in the coming months, as it will be his primary role.
Things could become more complicated for Eric with the return of Andreas Christensen, who is recovering from the injuries that kept him out of the team this season, making only one appearance against Valencia in August. Once Christensen is available, he will take priority over Eric in the defensive line.
Given these circumstances, there is no doubt that Eric García’s future with Barcelona is in jeopardy. He is likely to leave in the summer, as Joan Laporta and Deco are considering all offers for him. Barcelona is expected to seek significant financial compensation by selling García, whose value is estimated at around €10 million, a sum the club hopes other clubs will be willing to pay.
